Our Values

In sourcing the coffee for Roast & Ride we wanted to make sure it was as environmentally friendly as possible. That’s why we partnered with a roaster in Dorset who share our values completely. Not only are they a B Corp registered company, they have the highest score of any coffee roaster in the world. This means they are leading the way in producing ethical and sustainable coffee.

Sustainable

There is no denying that the coffee industry can have a significant environmental impact, from deforestation to water pollution. However, there are ways of producing coffee that are far more sustainable.

All our coffee is sourced from co-operatives and communities that prioritise sustainability. Our roasters are proud members of the Rainforest Alliance, who ensure that all steps of the supply chain are using sustainable practices. This helps to keep ecological damage to a minimum and improves agricultural standards.

Ethically Sourced

Our coffee is fully traceable, so you know exactly where we are sourcing our beans from. We use a combination of certified and direct trade coffees from various countries around the world.

The growers and producers are carefully chosen to make sure they are being supported by our purchases. Paying a fair price makes sure our partners are profitable, allowing them to grow sustainably and improve their quality of life.

Coffee Beans

Eco Roasted

Most of the waste coffee grounds in the UK are sent to landfill where they release methane, which is 20 times more damaging to the environment than carbon dioxide. Used coffee grounds are rich in energy so it makes no sense to simply dispose of them. A brilliant innovation from our roaster is their Eco Roast technology, which allows them to power their roasters with used coffee grounds.

This Eco Roast technology helps us to reduce waste and carbon emissions, creating a more sustainable way to enjoy coffee.

How it works

Dried coffee grounds are converted into Bio-Fuel that provides the thermal energy required to power our Eco Roasters. These energy-efficient roasters only require 40 grams of Bio-Fuel to roast 1kg of fresh coffee! Excess heat is stored in thermal tanks and used to heat the roastery.

Giving Back

We wanted to make sure our business had a positive impact on the world. That's why we give 10% of our profits to the charity World Bicycle Relief. This incredible charity helps rural communities around the world gain access to education, jobs and healthcare through the power of bicycles.

Recycling

Recyclable

Most coffee bags, whether made from paper or plastic, have an aluminium lining inside. This helps the coffee last longer but makes it very hard to recycle the bags. We wanted to make sure it was easy to recycle our bags at home so we chose a bag without the aluminium lining. There is a resealable zip at the top to keep the coffee fresh, but if you want to preserve the coffee for as long as possible we recommend decanting it into a storage container.
